What Is the School of Journalism Alumni Association Endowment?

The WVU School of Journalism Alumni Association Endowment was created in 2001 when the Alumni Association pledged $10,000 to the WVU Foundation. This pledge helped to provide unrestricted, discretionary funds for the school.School of Journalism

In 2003, this pledge was met and exceeded, reaching more than $14,000 in donations from alumni and friends. This spendable income, as determined by WVU Foundation policies, shall be used to support the programming efforts of the college, including but not limited to:

  • Covering student or faculty travel or conference/meeting expenses;
  • Acquiring, maintaining and utilizing appropriate technology for the enhancement of education;
  • Recognizing faculty and staff members or students who have achieved state, regional, national or international acclaim for teaching, research, service or learning in their field; or
  • Fulfilling hospitality needs, both reasonable and necessary, to further the interests of the School, including development activities.

The WVU Foundation Inc. is a private corporation chartered to secure, hold and administer funds and properties given by individuals, corporations and philanthropic foundations in support of West Virginia University.

How Can I Contribute?
By purchasing a Lifetime Membership to the School of Journalism Alumni Association, you are automatically giving to the Alumni Association Endowment. Friends of the School can also contribute to the endowment by mailing their donation directly to the WVU Foundation and indicating that their gift is intended for the School of Journalism Alumni Association Endowment.
