After college, she worked as an associate producer at WDBJ 7, the CBS affiliate in Roanoke, Va.  From there, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she became TVDirect producer for CONUS Communications, a satellite news gathering         organization that provided coverage for more than 100 local stations, television networks and news organizations across the country. As TVDirect Producer, Arthur covered many government agencies, including the state department, Pentagon and justice department. She also produced CONUS's major daily news feed.  Shortly after 9-11, she became White House Independent Pool Producer, working with C-SPAN, Reuters TV and APTN to provide television coverage of the first George W. Bush Administration.

During and after graduate school, Arthur worked as a freelance producer and creative writer and editor for a television news organization and upstart magazine, respectively. Immediately prior to coming to WVU, Arthur worked as a strategic communications specialist for a government contractor that provided communications support for a directorate within a U.S. military organization.
