Emily Hughes Corio joined the School of Journalism as an adjunct instructor in the fall of 2004. She teaches broadcast news writing and radio reporting classes. Corio is a reporter for West Virginia Public Broadcasting, covering news stories in North Central West Virginia. She files stories for West Virginia Public Radio regularly and produces occasional stories for West Virginia Public Television. Her stories have also aired on the CBC and NPR.

Before moving to Morgantown, Corio worked at Allegheny Mountain Radio, a community radio station in Pocahontas County, WV, as the News and Public Affairs Director.

She received the 2004 West Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters Association award for Best Reporter.

Corio graduated from the Broadcasting and Cinema Department and the Honors Program at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro.
