Sarah R. Barnes is an instructor for the WVU P.I. Reed School of Journalism, where she has taught Public Relations Editing and Design since 2003.

Ms. Barnes has extensive background in Web development, graphic design and public relations. She is currently a Web Developer with the WVU Office of Information Technology Communications unit. Prior to her current position, she was a Program Manager for the WVU Center on Aging where she coordinated the development of Web sites, planned media and community outreach and developed promotional materials. Barnes is also co-owner of sbahns multimedia, LLC, a small web development and photography company. She currently is enrolled in the master’s program at the School of Journalism. She is conducting her master’s research on the ways aging populations interact with the Web and how to design sites that better suit their needs.

In 1998, she graduated Cum Laude with bachelor's degrees in foreign language and history from the WVU Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. In Spring 2004, she was inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha, a college honor society that recognizes academic excellence and promotes scholarship in journalism and mass communication.
