Public RelationsPublic Relations Sequence

Students in the Public Relations program create media campaigns and plan events for nonprofit organizations and private firms.

The Public Relations program offers students practical, hands-on experience. Students plan regional conferences for nonprofit organizations, develop media kits, brochures and press releases and launch major program initiatives.

The program also offers challenging opportunities to work hands-on with industrial, medical, military, educational and charitable organizations. While focusing on public relations, students also receive a solid education in writing, research, interviewing skills and media analysis.

The Public Relations faculty include veteran public relations practitioners and researchers, as well as part-time adjunct faculty still working in the field. The School boasts a strong Public Relations internship program, with more than 50 internships available each year, as well as a very active Public Relations Student Society of America chapter.

For more information on the public relations curriculum, please contact the sequence head, Associate Professor Ivan Pinnell at (304) 293-3505, ext. 5404, e-mail ivan.pinnell@mail.wvu.edu.
