About Our Academic Programs

Students in the WVU Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism learn by doing. Hands-on experiences prepare our students for careers in 21st century communications.

Through class projects and internships, students produce work for real clients, including media outlets and major public relations and advertising firms.

The School of Journalism offers undergraduate programs in advertising, journalism and public relations. We also offer two graduate programs – a master’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications – as well as graduate certificate programs in integrated marketing communications and digital marketing communications.

In addition, we offer minor programs and online courses to non-School of Journalism majors.

Teaching in all the program areas embraces a coaching-mentoring philosophy. Students learn from award-winning faculty who bring to the classroom years of experience working in the professions.
