Graduation Cap


Ceremony Details

Date: Saturday, December 13, 2008

Place: WVU’s Mountainlair Ballrooms. A map of WVU’s Downtown Campus is provided.

Time: The ceremony will begin at 10:00 am. Graduates must arrive by 9:00 am to allow time for lining up within each program sequence. The ceremony is expected to last approximately 90 minutes.

Applying for Graduation: All graduates must apply for graduation. Applications are available with Brenda Prentiss in 316 Martin Hall. Priority deadline is Oct. 17, 2008. Please apply by this date to ensure you and your family will receive all graduation-related information.

Attire: Participating graduates must purchase a cap, gown and tassel at the WVU Bookstore or the Book Exchange. The cost of these is not included in the graduation fee.

Seating: The Mountainlair Ballrooms should have sufficient seating for the School of Journalism’s ceremony. Tickets will NOT be issued for this event.

Parking: Parking will be available in the Mountainlair garage.

Reception: Light refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremony.

Graduation Fee: Graduates should check with the Office of Student Accounts ( 304-293-4006 ) about the graduation fee.

Outstanding Fines/Fees: Graduates should check with Admissions and Records ( 304-29…) to be certain that they do not owe any University fines or fees.

Diplomas: Diplomas will be mailed to graduates after degrees are officially conferred following finals week and grade submissions. Diplomas will be mailed to the student’s permanent address indicated on the graduation application. The School of Journalism does not handle diplomas at any point in time. All questions should be referred to Admissions and Records ( 304-293-2124 ).

University Ceremony: The University ceremony will be held at the WVU Coliseum on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. Graduates should be at the coliseum by 12:30 p.m. Watch the WVU website for details.
