Professorship in Media Innovation

Media innovators with a passion for reinventing journalism should apply for the Ogden Newspapers Visiting Professorship in Media Innovation position at West Virginia University, which starts August 2013.

The P.I. Reed School of Journalism at WVU offers a fast-paced environment that fosters risk-taking and experimentation, and a deep commitment to strengthening community media and journalism excellence. We seek an entrepreneurial spirit with a tech start-up mindset, and national recognition in journalism and/or technology industries. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in innovation and exploring new forms of digital media practice, including interactive storytelling, database narrative, audience engagement, or mobile and tablet application development. Candidate will have a passion for and commitment to the power of community journalism and the ability to act as a catalyst in a unique incubator environment for innovation and invention in industry and community partnerships.

Evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level is highly preferred. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt and succeed at the intersection of industry and academic innovation and who can work collegially with diverse partners to make it happen. A master’s degree is preferred. A bachelor’s degree with significant experience will be considered.
