Mary Kay McFarland

Mary Kay McFarland joined the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism in the summer of 2009. She teaches multimedia journalism and serves as a project coordinator for the School’s “West Virginia Uncovered: Multimedia Journalism from the Mountains” project. The project teaches multimedia storytelling in rural areas of West Virginia and is a partnership with rural and weekly newspapers around the state.
Before coming to WVU, McFarland worked at The Charleston Gazette as a staff photographer and multimedia editor.
McFarland received her bachelor’s degree in English from Bethany College and her master’s in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
