WVU News Spring 2025 - Episode 5

WVU News is an Emmy-award winning newscast produced by television journalism students at West Virginia University. This special edition episode explores how President Trump’s first 100 days in office is impacting Appalachia, ranging from stories on federal cuts to changes in DEI polices will have on everyday Americans. The episode covers how federal budget cuts and Trump’s tariffs meant to boost manufacturing jobs in the U.S. have led to layoffs in two major employers in North Central West Virginia. The episode also includes stories about the removal of DEI programs that support Black history and culture, and what those cuts mean for higher education research.
