"Mountaineer Playbook" launched in 2021 as the capstone course for the Reed College of Media’s Sports and Adventure Media program. It airs statewide on West Virginia Public Broadcasting and in Morgantown on the Morgantown Public Access Channel.
View the Fall 2025 Cast and CrewMountaineer Playbook is an Emmy-award winning sports magazine show produced by Sports and Adventure Media students at West Virginia University. This week, we’re covering it all — from the fierce rivalry of the Mountain State Derby as WVU and Marshall battle for soccer supremacy, to Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown’s incredible 30-year legacy leading the Mountaineer women’s team. We also hit the court with WVU basketball as new transfers make their mark, and meet the quarterback ushering in a new era for Mountaineer football. Plus, we step off the field for the 36th annual Pumpkin Drop, explore West Virginia’s fall colors from above, and look at the traditions and moments that make this state’s sports scene one of a kind.
