Claudia DiLima

Claudia is a second-year grad student in journalism, after graduating with a B.S.J. in May 2024. She is from Shepherdstown, West Virginia, and has worked as a photographer for the Daily Athenaeum and a News Reporter and DJ for U92 The Moose, WVU’s student-run newspaper and radio station, respectively. She is also the President of WVU’s Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. She has received several awards for her reporting, including a 9th place Hearst Award for television news and a 3rd place BEA of Festival Media Arts for a hard news story.

Claudia has interned with several different organizations throughout her college career, ranging anywhere from writing to filming to editing. Claudia was an intern at ReImagine Appalachia, a coalition aiming to bring green economic opportunity and support to laborers in the Appalachian region. She interned with Shine on, WV, a platform that showcases West Virginian artists and their stories, and with the Student Press Law Center, working on improving student journalist’s rights in West Virginia. Over the spring and summer of 2025, she worked on a series exploring the distribution of opioid settlement funds in the state with 100 Days in Appalachia. Claudia loves her state and hopes to continue bringing it to life.

After graduating in May 2026, Claudia hopes to become involved with the documentary world and investigative reporting. However, she’s interested in all aspects of journalism, from TV to print news.
