Ty McClung

Ty is a second-year graduate student from Madison, West Virginia who is pursuing his Master’s in Journalism. He graduated from WVU in May of 2024 with his Bachelor's of Science in Journalism with a focus in Broadcast Television Production. Ty is currently serving as the Television Journalism Program Graduate Assistant, where his responsibilities include equipment inventory, video editing, and supporting the program’s numerous capstone courses. Ty has been a member of the Mountaineer Maniacs since his freshman year and has served on the Executive Board since his sophomore year. He is an avid Mountaineer fan, and you can often find him in the front row of WVU sporting events. Ty has previously served as the Legislative Anchor/Reporter for WVU News in the spring of 2024, and as a Senior Correspondent and Teaching Assistant in the spring of 2025 He has also served as a Reporting Intern for the Charleston Gazette-Mail in Charleston, West Virginia, and works as a freelance contributor for West Virginia Executive Magazine. As a proud West Virginian, Ty is interested in reporting on issues affecting the people of West Virginia. He has experience reporting on state and local government, but also healthcare and recreational issues. Ty plans to graduate in May 2026 and enter the industry looking for a job in multimedia journalism.  

Fun Fact: Ty is both an Eagle Scout and a West Virginia Golden Horseshoe Winner.
