Cassidy Roark-Eshelman

My name is Cassidy Roark, I am majoring in journalism minoring in photography at WVU and graduating in May 2025. I was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where I grew up as a 2-sport athlete. Before WVU I went to Salisbury University where I committed to play lacrosse. Lasting only a semester I transferred to WVU to pursue my dream to be a journalist and photographer.

My dream is to be a fulltime reporter for either a news show or major publishing company while also having my own photography business. I have a deep passion for the outdoors and documenting life through my camera. Last summer I interned as a photojournalist with The Dominion Post in Morgantown West Virginia, following that internship I was hired part-time with them while finishing my senior year as a reporter and photographer. I gained real world experience working with deadlines and people of all ages. I was given the WVU and outdoors beat with The Dominion Post. Since outdoor rec is not a full-time beat but is still my passion, they gave me the opportunity to slowly bring it back as needed and the demand is there. Since I am the youngest employee and still in college, they gave me WVU and student life as a beat.

Besides photography I love people. If I can share people’s lives either good or bad it means the world to me because I can do my part in sharing moments for them. I have a dog who is truly my best friend and my “twin”. Everyone always says to me if I was a dog I would be her.
