I’ve had more experience than the average student producer in a capstone course, but with our first show of the Fall 2026 semester, my focus was getting back into the groove of writing a cohesive script and translating that script into a finished show in the studio.

I never thought that this major was all about working as a team. I thought my major was only going to be about writing a story, getting it approved and posting it. I never imagined all the teamwork behind it.

During my first show with West Virginia Today, I had a lot of good experiences. I have experience as a videographer from when I took Mountaineer Playbook in the spring semester, but I often received unexpected assignments, and I'm learning from them as I improve as a videographer throughout my time with West Virginia Today.

I can describe my experience working on Show 1 in three words “sound, colour, and framing.”
